Our Story

Hi! We’re Austin and Brittany Steen and we are so glad you’re here!

Austin and I grew up as small town kids interested in gardening and farming, but neither actually grew up farming. Both being just one generation removed from it, we often heard the good memories of “life on the farm” and dreamed of one day having that for ourselves. Soon after we married in 2017, we tiptoed into the world of gardening on our own. I had a tiny raised bed garden that didn’t produce much more than a couple peppers and a handful of okra. As life went on we still longed to get back to our family roots of farming and live more self-sufficiently through homesteading.

Becoming a first time mom pushed me even further to learn where our food came from, how it was grown, and how nourishing it was (or wasn’t) for my family. This deep dive opened my eyes to the importance of locally grown, nutrient rich foods. At that same time, Austin felt a pull to get serious about self sufficient living and searched for ways to make this lifestyle sustainable for us. Both of our realizations led us directly to regenerative farming.

By the grace of God, our dream began to seem more tangible in 2021 when we purchased a fixer upper house with 35 acres, mostly pastureland! We knew we eventually wanted to raise livestock and chose to start small with broiler (meat) chickens, then onto our flock of sheep. Our mission became to steward our land in a way that would provide the highest quality food for our family, friends and community while continually nourishing our livestock and regenerating the soil. God deserves all the glory for allowing this to come to fruition!

We look forward to serving you and your family!
